Iranian ‘Sun Children’ to go to Macao Fest

Iranian film ‘Sun Children’ is to compete at the 2020 Macao Int’l Film Festival in China.

Iranian film ‘Sun Children’ has been selected to compete at the 5th edition of the International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao (IFFAM).

Made by Iranian filmmaking master Majid Majidi, the movie tells the story of four young friends.

They work quite hard to financially support their needy families while they sometimes commit petty crimes to make easy money.

Everything changes, however, when one of them is entrusted to find a hidden treasure underground, but he must first enroll at the Sun (Khorshid) School, a charitable institution that tries to educate street kids and children suffering child labor.

The movie is a depiction of the contrast between the world of children and adults, which is clearly shown by the children and the path they are about to take to become grown-ups.

The film represents the lack of education and repressive attitudes that deprive these children of their childhood.

Lunched in 2016, the IFFAM aims to bring together film industries from Asia and the west.

The IFFAM includes 7 sections of International Competition, New Chinese Cinema, Galas & Special Presentations, World Panorama, Flying Daggers, Classics & Retrospective and Shorts Competition.

Due to the situation caused by the coronavirus, the festival will be held online on December 3-8, 2020.
